Best Offline MOD APK Games for Android in 2026 (No Internet Needed)
Eleven MOD APK games from our catalogue that play their core mode in airplane mode — Subway Surfers, Hill Climb Racing, Plants vs. Zombies 2, Traffic Rider, DEAD TARGET and more — with what each mod really changes, file size, minimum Android version and the parts that still need a connection.

"Offline" is the most useful filter for a MOD APK game and the one most lists ignore. A modded currency only matters in a game that keeps its save on your phone, and that is exactly the kind of game that also runs in airplane mode: endless runners, hill climbers, tower defence, idle tycoons. Live-service games with server-side wallets are the opposite — the mod does nothing, and the game will not even open without a connection.
This list is every game in the MODKICK catalogue that plays its core mode without internet, with what the mod really changes, the file size, the minimum Android version and the parts of each game that still need a connection. Each entry links to the listing, where the install steps and the "what this mod does not do" notes live. Versions below are the ones live at the time of writing; the listings update when the source does.

Subway Surfers
The endless runner that defined the genre still saves everything locally, so the run, the characters, the boards and the upgrades all work with data off. The MOD gives you the coins and keys to buy and revive without grinding; it does not touch the World Tour season, the leaderboards or the friends list, which load from SYBO's servers and simply stay empty offline. A good first install if you have never sideloaded a game: a single 257 MB APK, no OBB, Android 7.0 or newer.

Subway Surfers City
The 2024 spin-off keeps the formula and adds a city-sized map with new mechanics. Offline it behaves like the original — runs, unlocks and the coin and key balance are on the device — while the seasonal events and rankings wait for a connection. It wants Android 8.0 and is a 213 MB single APK.

Hill Climb Racing
Fingersoft's physics racer is the purest offline game on this list: no account, no events, no server. The coin mod means every vehicle and every stage is affordable from the first minute, and the only thing you lose without internet is the optional cloud save through Google Play Games — which you would not use with a modded balance anyway. 122 MB, Android 7.0.

Traffic Rider
A first-person motorbike game with a career mode of more than 70 missions, an endless mode and time trials, all playable offline. The MOD unlocks the cash side so you can buy and upgrade bikes freely; leaderboards are the one online feature, and the mod gives no advantage there. 184 MB, Android 7.0 or newer; the current build is the 2.11 bug-fix release.

Plants vs. Zombies 2
The one big download on the list — 940 MB in a single APK, no OBB — and worth the space if you like tower defence. All the worlds and levels play offline. The MOD covers coins, gems and the in-level sun, so you can plant without waiting for sunflowers. Arena, Penny's Pursuit, the store and the timed events are server features and stay out of reach while offline, modded or not. Keep roughly 2 GB free during the install.

DEAD TARGET: Zombie
An offline zombie shooter with a long campaign, a gun collection and no story walls. The money mod buys and upgrades the weapons; the rewarded-video bonuses and the daily events need a connection, which you do not need for the campaign itself. 167 MB and Android 6.0, so it runs on older phones.

Zombie Hunter: Offline Games
The title says it: this sniper shooter was built for offline play, with waves of zombies, rifles to upgrade and no login. The MOD removes the money grind; only the rewarded videos use the network. 163 MB, Android 6.0 or newer.

Zombie Hunter: Offline GamesView
Alien Invasion: RPG Idle Space
An idle action RPG where you grow a swarm and devour the map. It progresses offline, including the idle gains while the app is closed, and the money mod speeds up every upgrade. Rewarded videos are the only online piece. 191 MB and the highest Android requirement on the list, 8.0.

Idle Bank Tycoon
A management idler about building a banking empire. Idle games are made for offline — earnings accumulate with the phone in your pocket — and the money mod shortens the early slog. Rewarded videos for boosts need internet; nothing else does. 142 MB, Android 7.0.

Head Soccer
The arcade football classic with dozens of characters and single-player modes such as Arcade, Tournament, Survival and Death Mode, all offline. The points mod unlocks characters and costumes without the grind. Online multiplayer is the exception and the mod does nothing there. 245 MB, Android 7.0.

Homescapes
The match-3 renovation game plays its levels offline, and the MOD removes the stars bottleneck so the decorating story moves as fast as you can clear boards. Team chat and the timed events are online features; they reappear when you reconnect. 201 MB and only Android 5.0 required, which makes it the most forgiving entry here.

What offline play changes for a mod
Three practical consequences worth knowing before you choose.
- The mod works offline because the currency is local. That is also why nothing on this list touches a server-side wallet: if a game kept your balance online, the mod could not change it and we would not list it as "unlimited".
- Online features stay vanilla. Leaderboards, events and multiplayer are run by the developer's servers. A modded balance gives no advantage there, and on games with accounts it can be flagged. Our listings say so; play these games as the single-player titles they are.
- Saves do not transfer from the Play Store version. The MOD has a different signature, so it installs as a new copy after you uninstall the original. If that matters to you, sync the original's progress first — it will not be visible in the mod, but you keep it for later.
Frequently asked questions
Do MOD APK games work without internet?
The ones whose save lives on the phone do — every game on this list. Games that keep your wallet and progress on a server need a connection, and a mod cannot change their currency anyway.
Will the unlimited coins work in airplane mode?
Yes. The modified balance is stored locally, so it is there whether the phone is online or not. What you lose offline is the online layer: events, leaderboards, friends, rewarded videos.
Is it safer to stay offline with a modded game?
For single-player games without accounts there is nothing to ban. For games with online leaderboards or events, using a modded balance in those online parts is what gets flagged, so keep the mod to the offline modes.
Which of these needs an OBB file?
None. Every build above is a single APK; the biggest, Plants vs. Zombies 2, packs its data inside the 940 MB file. If you ever do get a game as APK + OBB, our guide to placing OBB files on Android 14 and 15 covers it, and the "App not installed" guide covers the install errors.
